The uvea contains the middle layer of pigmented vascular structures of the eye and involves the iris, ciliary body and choroid. Its symptoms are: Redness of the eye; Blurred vision; Photophobia or sensitivity to light; Irregular pupil; Eye pain. It is an inflammatory process of these uveal components due to an autoimmune reaction to self-antigens or caused by an innate inflammatory reaction secondary to an external stimulus. It can present as an isolated entity or associated with a systemic autoimmune or autoinflammatory disease.
