The City of London is the business district right in the center of London. It’s often referred to as the Square Mile. The City of London Corporation provides local authority services for the area. It also supports and promotes London as the world’s leading international financial and business center. The City works in partnership with local communities to increase skills, employment, and opportunities, enhancing the city’s culture, history, and green spaces for all Londoners. It is headed by the Lord Mayor, an international ambassador for the City and UK financial and business services, a role separate from (and much older than) the Mayor of London. London is famous for Big Ben, Buckingham Palace, British Museum, and Tower Bridge. London is also known for its rich history, double-decker buses, red phone booths, world-class museums and galleries, gigantic lush parks, financial districts, and cosmopolitan vibes.
