Abiodun Timilehin is a Physicist and Renewable energy enterpreneur. His passion for adding Impact to humaity has motivated him to adopt renewable energy as a career,as such,a revolutionary solution for economic development. He is the founder of Word Impact Renewable Energy (WIRE),Nigeria.WIRE is currently working on what is proposed as the largest Biomass-Biogas project in Africa.WIRE is an inspiration from God.
Abstract
It is pleasing to know that Biomass which is commonly regarded as waste materials are being explored all over the world for the benefit of mankind. However,it is worrisome to know that Biomass is yet to be explored at places with enough Biomass potential.Citing ,Africa/Nigeria as an example,Nigeria's main energy carrier is Biomass with 81.25% energy potential while other sources of energy share 18.75%.At 2018,Nigeria is yet to explore 1killowatt of electricity from Biomass to the grid. One can wonder how many places suffer darkness in Africa due to the neglect of Biomass.
Academic and Financial Institutions,Renewable Energy companies are also playing a major role in underrating and depririoritizing Biomass energy.Over relying on other sources of energy has limited academic institutions on realizing the need to carry out more research on Biomass.Financial institutions are also not well informed enough to know that Biomass projects should be funded more in areas with Biomass as their major energy carrier. Most Renewable Energy companies are more profit oriented than development oriented. These factors, due to lack of information is responsible for underrating and deprioritizing Biomass potential in developing nations.
Projects such as WIRE project at Oke - Aro pig farm estate should be encouraged and given enough support because people need to see a major example.Putting more aggression into informing people about Biomass as an energy source would give people the knowledge that Biomass energy do not need rocket science.
Wastes will still be wasting in the midst of insufficient electricity and fertilizer, until many African countries start realizing their main energy potential sources and by rating and prioritizing Biomass as a great energy potential.
