About City

With a population of more than 1.3 million in the Greater Auckland area, Auckland is the largest city in New Zealand. Auckland City rests between the Hauraki Gulf to the east, the low Hunua Ranges to the south-east, the Manukau Harbour to the south-west, and the Waitakere Ranges to the west and north-west. The central area of Auckland City is nestled on a narrow isthmus, between the Manukau Harbour and the Waitemata Harbour. There are many cultures and demographics in Auckland City. The majority  are New Zealand Europeans with British decent, but there are also high numbers of Maori, Pacific Islander and Asian communities. Auckland enjoys a temperate climate, with warm, humid summers and mild, damp winters. It is the warmest main centre of New Zealand and also one of the sunniest.

There are many parks, gardens, historic houses, museums and other places of interest in and around Auckland, New Zealand. Popular attractions in Auckland include the Sky Tower, Rainbows End, MOTAT Museum, Auckland Botanic Gardens, Kelly Tarlton's Underwater World, Rangitoto Island and Waiheke Island. There are a variety of event venues throughout Auckland. Eden Park is the city's primary stadium and a frequent home for international sports matches. Vector Arena is an enclosed arena and frequently used for concerts. Other stadiums include North Harbour Stadium, Mt Smart Stadium, Trusts Stadium and North Shore Events Centre.
