Dubai is located in the United Arab Emirates and the capital city of the Emirates of the Dubai. The global city is famous for the business hub for the Middle East. Its diverse and fast-growing economy has led to incredible growth through the decades. Dubai is one of seven emirates that make up the United Arab Emirates, known for luxury shopping, ultramodern architecture and a lively nightlife scene. Burj Khalifa, an 830m-tall tower, dominates the skyscraper-filled skyline. At its foot lies Dubai Fountain, with jets and lights choreographed to music. On artificial islands just offshore is Atlantis, The Palm, a resort with water and marine-animal parks. One of the most fascinating geographical aspects of Dubai is its Creek, which divides the city into two regions. Dubai Creek is made up of a natural 9.5 mile inlet in the Persian Gulf, around which the city’s trade developed. North of the Creek is called Deira, and Bur Dubai refers to the south where it joins the tourist and residential developments of Jumeirah along the coast. Due to the city’s unique geographical location it enjoys a strategic position which allows it to connect to all local Gulf States, as well as to East Africa and South Asia. Dubai weather is tropical dessert climate with hot, sunny weather. Summers are very hot humid and dry with temperature climbing to 40 °C and higher and winter temperature considerably high of 23 °C and lows of around 14°C.
Tourism in Dubai is an important part of the Dubai government's strategy to maintain the flow of foreign cash into the emirates. Dubai's lure for tourists is based mainly on shopping, but also on its possession of other ancient and modern attractions. As of 2012, Dubai was the 22nd most expensive city in the world and the most expensive city in the Middle East. In 2014, Dubai's hotel rooms were rated as the second most expensive in the world, after Geneva. In 2013, U.S. global consulting firm Mercer rated Dubai the best place to live in the Middle East.
